· 1 : A CD/DVD-Writer must be used to recover unclosed CD/DVD discs
To recover a CD/DVD recorded with packet writing software (DirectCD,InCD,PacketCD,DLA,etc), you must use a CD/DVD-Writer, which can access to unclosed sessions.
Also, frequently the CD/DVD-Writers can access better to the CD/DVD discs, it is advisable to use a CD/DVD-Writer for the recovery.
· 2 : When starting the program, a dialog appears saying "Cannot initialize the program" or "No CD/DVD devices found"
This is usually a problem with the ASPI drivers, please see question 4. It also can be caused due to hardware problems with the CD/DVD devices.
· 3 : After pressing "Scan" button, a dialog appears saying "Unit not ready"
First , be assure that a CD/DVD disc is inserted in the "selected device".
If it happens always, even when inserting a CD/DVD disc in good condition, check your ASPI drivers as shown in question 4.
If if only happens with the CD/DVD disc you want to recover, this could be due to:
-you are not using a CD/DVD-Writer with a unclosed CD/DVD, see question 1.
-the CD/DVD disc is extremely damaged and the CD/DVD device cannot recognize it.
· 4 : ASPI Drivers
If you are using Windows 95,98 or ME, you need you have the ASPI drivers correctly installed. These drivers are shipped with Windows but some programs can corrupt them. ASPI defines an interface for the access to SCSI and ATAPI devices.
